Liposuction Explained
Liposuction is usually performed with the patient under IV sedation. You will be asleep for any injections but may be partially awake when having the procedure. This is necessary in order to minimize the risks posed by anesthesia. Neck lift procedures take about 1 hour to complete, not including the muscle tightening of cheeks, jawline and neck. After surgery, you will need to wear a bandage for one night and a chin strap for 7 days. Most patients only use pain medication for first night, opting for ice packs afterwards. Sutures under the chin and behind the ear are removed after 7 days. Generally, bruising lasts for 1 week and swelling for 2 weeks. Scars fade within 2 to 3 months. Most people take at least 2 weeks off work to recuperate. Contact Dr. Kevin Ende, M.D. in Englewood, NJ to discuss how a neck lift could give you a more youthful look.
