Your FAQs on hair transplants

  • Why should you choose Dr. Ende for hair restoration?

Dr. Ende provides excellent care and natural results. Dr. Ende is double board certified in both facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and otolaryngology. He has performed thousands of successful surgical procedures on the face and scalp. To maintain his standards, Dr. Ende only performs one hair transplant procedure per day. Many hair transplant physicians don’t have a surgical background. Dr. Ende is not only a surgeon but has also taught surgery as a faculty member at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Ende is also the author of many medical publications. He wrote the authoritative chapter on hair transplant surgery as used in medical schools and residency programs to train surgeons.

  • Will my hair transplant look natural?

Follicular unit hair transplants look completely natural. Often, surgeons are unable to tell the difference between transplanted and non-transplanted hair after a procedure by Dr. Ende! View our “before and after” pictures to see the difference Dr. Ende offers. Using Dr. Ende’s services, the result will be full, lush, natural-looking hair.

  • Are hair transplants only for men?

Dr. Ende performs many hair transplant procedures on women. Female hair loss is different than male hair loss, but a hair transplant can often revive a female patient’s hairline just as easily.

  • How is a hair transplant performed?

Firstly, hair follicles are gently removed from the back and sides of the scalp. Then, the hairs are divided into follicular units under a high power microscope. Each hair unit is transplanted to a tiny slit with careful consideration to hair angle, direction, curl, and positioning. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and is virtually painless. There are no dressings or bandages to be managed. Most patients are so satisfied after this one day procedure they don’t require any further treatment. You can even return to work the next day!

  • Can hair be transplanted to other areas, such as eyebrows?

Eyebrow transplants have become quite popular in Dr. Ende’s practice. The procedures are performed the same way as any other hair transplant. Patients who have lost eyebrow hair from plucking, scars, or accidents are all excellent candidates (even if you have an eyebrow tattoo).

  • How long do hair transplants last?

Usually, transplanted hair will last a lifetime. Most patients never lose the hair from the donor areas and it will grow just like your natural hair.

  • Does a hair transplant procedure hurt?

An oral sedative will be administered along with local anesthesia. There is no IV or breathing tube. You can relax and speak with the specialized hair technicians as Dr. Ende works. If required, you can take a break throughout the procedure to use the restroom or eat lunch. All patients are given a prescription for pain medication after the procedure. Most patients only use this the first night with many opting not to use pain medication at all.

  • How many hair grafts will I need?

This can only be accurately assessed by taking up our offer of a free in-office consultation. However, rough estimates can be made from photographs. There are many variables to consider: hair color, thickness, texture, quality, degree of baldness, your own personal goals, and finances.

  • How much does a hair transplant cost?

We have several different financing options available to patients who qualify. These options include plans with no interest for 18 months.

  • Can I see and talk to other hair transplant patients?

We must protect the privacy of our patients. However, there are pictures available on this site and an even more extensive array of pictures are available for you to see when you come to our office. Don’t forget to check out our reviews and testimonials. We can arrange to have previous transplant patients who are available to speak to you on the phone.
